Dr. George Sharvashidze

Rector of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University

Since September, 2016 George Sharvashidze has been elected as rector of Tbilisi State University. Prior to this Mr. Sharvashidze was Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Director of the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement and invited lecturer at Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, TSU, In 2004-2013 George Sharvshidze was the director of Academic Foundation Programme (AFP) at Open Society Institute, Budapest, Hungary and earlier was a senior program manager of Higher Education Support Program (HESP), at Open Society Institute, Budapest, Hungary. Before moving to Budapest, Mr. George was a President of the International Institute for Education Policy, Planning and Management (EPPM), head of international group Higher Education Reform Project (COE, OSI) and the First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia (1996-2000).
